Then put your blinds down.

Fill a tub with sufficient warm water enough to cover the blinds.

Once the tub is filled with water, add a cup of white vinegar and a couple of tablespoons of dish soap.

Let the blinds sit for an hour or two.

After letting them sit, take the blinds out and wipe with a sponge or bristle brush.

Make sure you wipe in between the slats carefully to make sure no soap remains.

To dry, place a towel or big cloth under the blinds to drain the excess water.

Using another cloth, pat dry the slats to avoid water residue that causes water spots.

You can either let the blinds sit to air dry or hang it outside in the sun.

How to clean fabric blinds

Fabric blinds are a close second to the most popular style of blinds.

They look simple, aesthetic, and classy.

Since they are made from fabric, these blinds are prone to accumulate stains that are difficult to remove.

If you notice any stains on your blinds, it is advised to clean them right away to prevent stains from getting deeper into the fabric.

How to clean mild stains on fabric blinds:

Fabric is delicate.

If you encounter any stains, it’s better to use materials that are not too harsh.

What you need:

  • Vacuum (or feather duster)
  • Warm water
  • Dish soap
  • Clean cloth

Procedure:

Clean the dust off your blinds by using a vacuum.

A feather duster could also work if you don’t have a vacuum cleaner.

However, the vacuum will work best for sucking out the dust that clings to the fabric.

In a bowl, mix three to four tablespoons of dish soap and water.

With a clean cloth, dab the stained areas into the dish soap mixture.

Rinse with water after everything is said and done.

Then hang them or leave them to dry.

Remove tougher stains on fabric blinds:

Use hydrogen peroxide for harder stains on roller blinds

Method 1: The use of hydrogen peroxide: In case the soapy water didn’t work, you can try hydrogen peroxide.

What you need:

  • Hydrogen peroxide
  • Bowl
  • Cloth

Procedure:

Before starting out, do a spot test to see if the fabric doesn’t fade (especially for fabric-colored blinds).

And be sure to wear protective gloves.

If there isn’t any fading, prepare the hydrogen peroxide by pouring it into a bowl.

Using a clean cloth, soak it in the hydrogen peroxide and gently blot onto the stains

Let the solution sit there without rinsing it.

Method 2: Use stain remover: Hydrogen peroxide is easier to find compared to stain remover.

However, hydrogen peroxide has a higher chance that it will lead the fabric color to fade.

You most likely won’t have this issue with while a proper stain remover.

Just make sure to read the label to assure yourself that it is suitable for the material of your blinds.

What you need:

  • Soft, small brush or old toothbrush
  • Stain remover
