To remove jeans stains from a purse use makeup removing wipes, liquid laundry detergents, leather cleaning products, and conventional kitchen products such as baking soda and cornstarch. The right product to be used for removing the stain depends on the intensity of the stain and the material of the purse.
What actually is denim?
Jeans or denim is a common fabric type that is being used in making all types of clothing and accessories.
From basic pants and shirts to dresses to outerwear and accessories, everything is available in denim fabric.
Denim is a warp-faced twill-weaved fabric.
It is sturdy and it is available in different colors but the most common color of jeans available and used is indigo.
It is not made with indigo-dyed threads, but with blue as the warp thread and white as the weft thread, giving it the final indigo color.
So the weaving makes it appear indigo on the front but white on the backside.
A little about the history of denim
Before the advent of present-day denim, dungri was the prototype of denim made in India.
It was coarser and cheaper.
The denim we know today comes from France and Italy.
It gained popularity during the late 1800s when a tailor in the US made the first pair of pants from denim.
Because of the durability of the fabric and the cheap value, denim was initially mostly used for making uniforms for rough and tough use, as is for railway employees and forces.
After being tailored to the need, the denim usually undergoes aesthetic treatment and washing to make it softer and breathable while simultaneously making it stylish.
The processes include damaging and fading, distressed ones that can be achieved with stone washing, chemical exposure, and washing it multiple times.
Jeans Stains
Denim has the tendency to bleed that is, the indigo dye from the fabric will likely leave a stain or discoloration on whatever it comes in contact with.
Raw denim, which is unwashed and unaltered, is more likely to act this way.
The stained object can be a shirt, blouse, purse, scarf, or even the upholstery of sofas and chairs.
The staining is more common when the contact fabric belongs to the absorbent type, like cotton.
In addition, light-colored objects will get stained more easily.
How to remove jeans stains
The stains left by a new pair of jeans require a fair bit of effort to be removed.
To clean stains, use the trial and error method.
Use different cleaners and see which one works the best for the material you are attempting to remove the stain from.
It also depends on the extent of the stain and the depth of dye penetration.
Use makeup wipes
For smaller stains or less penetrated ones, try using makeup removing wipes.
Try the alcohol-free wipes to gently rub off the stain like the Neutrogena Makeup Removing Facial Wipes.
I do suggest using wipes that are as natural as possible.
Try liquid laundry detergent
You can also remove denim stains from a purse by applying a moderate layer of liquid laundry detergent on the spot, such as the Arm & Hammer Free & Clear Liquid Detergent.
This worked well for me in the past and I am a big fan of using detergent to remove stains.
Let it sit for a few minutes, then wash it off under cool running water.
This is particularly for purses that have waterproof qualities, not for fabric or non-water-resistant ones as it will cause more damage than good.
You can also dilute the detergent in water and soak the stained part of the bag.
Then dry the purse with a paper towel to be able to use it again.
Leather cleaners are for leather purses
If the denim stain is on a leather purse, you can try leather cleaning products.
Simply apply a cleaner such as the Cadillac Leather Cleaner, onto the purse, rub it with a clean white cloth, and see what happens.
The cloth lifts the stain right off the leather surface.
Avoid rough and rash rubbing as it may permanently damage the leather surface.

Baking soda, the basic one that we get from Arm & Hammer, and cornstarch have properties that absorb stains, particularly dyes and oil-based stains.
Just sprinkle one of these onto the stain, leave it on the stain for some time, and wipe it off with a clean cloth to get the best results.
How to prevent jeans from bleeding
To prevent denim jeans from bleeding, do a few things before wearing them.
For every new pair of jeans that you get, particularly the raw, darker ones, soak them in a diluted solution of vinegar before you wear them.
For instance, in a tub half-filled with water, add a cup of vinegar and soak the jeans for an hour or so.
And then lay it down to dry in the air as that will reduce any leftover smell of vinegar in the fabric.
A similar method is to wash the denim with a color-protecting laundry agent like Tide pods.
But always wash them separately from other clothes to avoid the unwanted coloring effect.
